long over due!

well I know this post is way overdue, just haven't felt like writing. but now I do. we have finally started our home improvement projects, I am building up my herb cupboard and learning how to use them and I am super excited about this! hopefully today I will get arthritis and Muscle salves and homemade deodorant made today. I have also been looking into becoming a doula and I hope to soon be able to shadow/observe a birth and what a doula actually does for the couple during this special time. I have been doing a lot of volunteer work at the Francisican Convent here in my town, the three nuns that live there are just delightful and are so fun and encouraging and I love dotting on them and helping in any way that i can. next week I am visiting my family in NY state and excited to meet my 4 month old niece. I miss my family so much and wish we could all live closer to each other. that is all for now. have a great weekend!

Who are the Orthodox Christians?

Love this saying from Saint Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church it describes us Orthodox Christians in a nutshell!
" We're Not Jewish, But WE ARE ORTHODOX...
We're Not Roman, But WE ARE CATHOLIC...
We're Not Protestant, BUT THE BIBLE CAME FROM US...
We're Not Denominational, WE ARe PRE-DENOMINATIONAL."

its been awhile!

sorry i don't blog much. lots have been happening lately. Got our garden in and the rest of our flowers in. Ben has been having some issues with his eyes and on top of that he may have Meniere's Disease and today he had an MRI to rule out something more serious. please pray for us! thank you!

Spring!

Spring has finally arrived here in SD. I've been very busy outside putting my flowers in the ground and watching my lilies and tulips appear. Its just amazing and beautiful what God has created. Even though the world is full of negative we can find the positive all around.!

sorry

sorry its been forever since I've posted. just hadn't felt like posting. but today I  wanted to share a small section from an awesome and profound book called The Lenten Spring by Fr. Thomas hopko.
"Our hearts are made for God, St. Augustine has said, and we will be forever restless until we rest in Him. Our lives are made for God, and we will be unfulfilled and dissatisfied and frustrated until we go to Him. All of God's creatures as Francis Thompson said in his poem The Hound of Heaven, are His "loyal betrayers." They do not satisfy His Children and cannot bring them peace. He alone can do that, because He alone is our home. And we are His." -Fr. Thomas Hopko, "The Lenten Spring" pg.21

Is there a guiding principle for right worship?

‎"... right worship is key to our Christian identity. By studying how worship was defined in the Old Testament and comparing it with the Orthodox liturgy we can better understand why Orthodox worship is the way it is and how contemporary worship has strayed far from biblical worship."

"They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” (Hebrews 8:5 NIV, italics added)" http://orthodoxyandheterodoxy.org/2012/09/10/orthodox-worship-versus-contemporary-worship/

Happy New Year!

I trust that everyone had a blessed Christmas! I certainly did! I got to be with 2 sets of families! biological family for the first time in 20years and with my adoptive family! its so wonderful how the Lord has open up the doors for me to reconcile and start new relationships with my biological family. I pray that the healing and reconciliation will continue to bloom for both of my families. This is exciting new year, hubby and I are excited about doing home improvement projects and getting our lives organized and become better stewards of what God has given to us. Also we are are saving up money for future fertility treatments, but I am praying that the Lord will be merciful and surprise us with a miracle so that we won't have to go through treatments again, Thy will be done O, Lord. I'm hoping to stay busy this year with making and selling rugs and whatever else i can come up with to make and sell to contribute to our saving up of money. This year I want to take up the challenge that I felt when I was listening to a podcast called The Coffee Cup Commentaries by Fr. Lawerence Farley. He was speaking on Mark 10:41-45 which talks about if we want to be first in the kingdom, we must become a servant to others and wash their feet. that really challenged me to become a servant to those around me and through my actions people will see Christ in me. here's the podcast if anyone would like to hear it. its not very long.http://ancientfaith.com/podcasts/coffeecup/mark_1041_45. well i think that is all for now. I pray many blessings upon everyone this brand new year and may Christ be seen in each and every one of us!
